Preparations for First Night North are already underway, beginning with the annual call to artists.

Now in its 27th year, St. Johnsbury’s popular New Year’s Eve performing arts festival features music, dance, magic, circus arts, puppetry, comedy and more in 18 family-friendly venues. First Night North staffers are accepting online applications now for family-friendly acts who’d like to perform Dec. 31, 2019.

Formerly known as First Night Johnsbury, First Night North began in 1993 and was modeled after Burlington’s First Night festival.

While First Night North relies year after year on a few eagerly anticipated tried-and-true acts, organizers always make room for exciting new performances as well. In recent years, newcomers like Vermont Vaudeville and Valley Improv joined First Night North favorites Marko the Magician and Hypnotist and Kingdom All-Stars. Even the refreshment options get better each year, with food vendors offering wood-fired pizza, Genuine Jamaican, the traditional pancake supper, and more.

“First Night is an enormous undertaking, year after year, for a town of our size,” said event organizer Jay Sprout. “But seeing the way the evening brings people of all ages and walks of life together to celebrate our community through the arts makes it all worthwhile.”

All types of performance acts are welcome to apply; acts must be family-friendly. To apply for one or two 45-minute performance slots or to apply as a food vendor, please fill out the online form by using the following link:
