The 2019 season at Vermont Children’s Theater (VCT) will fill the month of July with storytelling, music and dancing. Northeast Kingdom theater fans can look forward to musical theater this summer featuring classic stories, hilarious comedy and history.
The season kicks off with Disney's Winnie the Pooh KIDS, a delightful show based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and the 2011 Disney animated feature film. Story tellers will welcome guests to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship and, of course... sharing snacks. Featuring favorite songs from the film, as well as new hits by the Academy Award-winning Robert and Kristen Lopez (Frozen), this honey-filled delight is as sweet as it is fun.
Winnie the Pooh KIDS will be performed July 11, 12 & 13 at 7 pm. and a matinee on July 14 at 2 pm.

Based on the beloved holiday film from New Line Cinema, Elf The Musical JR. is a hilarious musical filled with memorable music and lots of laughs for the whole family to enjoy. After being raised as a would-be elf at the North Pole, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities causes him to embark on a new beginning to discover who he really is. Through his heart-felt determination to win over his new family, Buddy helps us all remember the true meaning of Christmas.This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, “The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” The musical features songs by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin and a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.
Elf The Musical JR. will be performed July 18, 19 & 20 at 7 pm and a matinee on July 21 at 2 pm.

Stop the presses! The VCT season will conclude with Disney’s Newsies. Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right and seize the day! Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.
Newsies will be performed July 25, 26 & 27 at 7 pm. and a matinee on July 28 at 2 pm.
