Artists who are interested in teaching (or those already working in schools) will enjoy increased access to educational opportunities, resources, and a community of colleagues thanks to a strategic partnership of Vermont arts organizations.

Catamount Arts, Community Engagement Lab, River Arts, Vermont Arts Council, VSA Vermont, and WonderArts VT are collaborating to provide networking and enrichment events for Vermont’s teaching artists, beginning with a mixer on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Greensboro.

Artists in all media are invited to the mixer, scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. at the Highland Center for the Arts on 2875 Hardwick Street in Greensboro. Attendees will enjoy light refreshments, conversation, and presentations on professional development resources and job opportunities.

A long-term goal of the gathering is to create a community of teaching artists in the region for ongoing sharing of resources and best practices.

The mixer will include information about the upcoming Teaching Artist Academy and Fellowship Program hosted by Community Engagement Lab. The Academy uses hands-on experimentation, demonstrations, and individual coaching to help teaching artists develop personal learning plans to help achieve their professional development goals. The Fellowship program is open to applicants at any stage of their teaching artist careers and provides tuition for Academy attendance.

The mixer is made possible by the Vermont Arts Council. More information is available by emailing info@wonderartsvt.org or by calling 533-9370.
